Here's a very much budget release of a pair of Vox original recordings which have appeared in many guises over the years - including a quadrophonic LP release. This is just plain-Jane stereo.
There's not a lot to say about the performances - if you like Ricci's playing then these are good examples and I prefer them to his earlier recordings with Ernest Ansermet. It would be idle to pretend that there aren't many finer recordings available with David Oistrakh in No.1 and Jascha Heifetz in No.2 leading the pack.
The orchestral playing is good enough but lacks polish and sounds quite thin at times. This forerunner to the current Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra is no match for its current incarnation.
