Aeon AECD0858 (recorded June 2007; this CD release 2008)

Recording venue: unknown
Recording engineer & Producer: Jean-Martial Golaz

This recording is posted here at the request of a reader and because the link in Juan's comment to one of Davide's Mahler megaposts is no longer active. The recording was made in 2007 when Flott's voice was beginning to show some deterioration and she is strained in some of the climaxes. It has subsequently been reissued on Outhere's budget label but none of the downloads include a booklet scan. If anybody has one, please add it to the comments to this post.

Nothing here quite matches Dame Felicity's superb Strauss lieder recordings - notably those made with Armin Jordan and the Suisse Romande Orchestra (also expertly engineered by Jean-Martial Golaz in the Victoria Hall). Nevertheless, these transcriptions for voice and piano quartet made by Christian Favre are fascinating.and the orchestral colours are only really missed in the Tristan Prelude. Flott's interpretations are spot on - made possible by the paired-down scoring. She evidently enjoyed working with the Quatuor Schumann. The sound is most vivid, as expected from Golaz.
