This is not a typical Baroque Passion... by modern standards. It probably is a typical Baroque Passion by Baroque standards. That is, there are no extended and difficult arias or huge contrapuntal instrumental movements. Everything is "easy", prepared so that someone present during the liturgy could actually participate in it, maybe even sing along the chorale movements.
