Here is a superb compilation from two recordings that Anne Queffelec made for Virgin of music by Eric Satie. Supplementing her superb recording of Ravel's complete piano works, also for Virgin, Queffelec displays great tonal sensitivity and finesse in these innovative, austere and brief pieces which hide behind their eccentric exterior.
The four-hand Trois Morceaux en forme de poire, in which Queffelec is joined by Catherine Collard is probably one of the best recordings this suite has ever had.
Sadly, the splendid "Rene Magritte" covers of the original CDs were not retained for this reissue.
