Recording venue, engineer and producer: not disclosed.

Ives' and Korngold's Trios are close contemporaries - composed in 1911 and 1910 respectively. The Ives Trio is an undoubted masterpiece which has numerous recordings. The second movement scherzo is characteristically subtitled 'TSIAJ' ( This Scherzo Is A Joke).

Korngold was only 12 years old when he completed his op.1. Although no masterpiece, it is an astonishing achievement for such a young musician.

Delos are strangely silent on the provenance of this fine recording and performance and Harold Truscott's notes are very enthusiastic. Although not the best known of Piano Trios, its violinist Israel Baker is perhaps best known as a Hollywood studio session musician - he led the screaming violins in Bernard Hermann's Psycho score and also led the Columbia Symphony for many years.
