Here's another from the series of British music recorded by Andrew Davis and the BBC Symphony in the 1990s. This remains one of my favourite recordings of The Planets (after Adrian Boult with the London Phil. and Zubin Mehta with the LA Phil.). The recorded sound is stunning and I much prefer this to Davis' later Chandos recording with the BBC Philharmonic. The wonderful Egdon Heath provides an excellent fill-up.

The inlay card suggests that Andrew Davis also plays the organ of King's College Cambridge throughout The Planets. Although he was an organ scholar and member of the King's College Choir in his earlier career, I find this statement to be unlikely!
