Here's an interesting collection of lighter repertoire by Norwegian composers. Ranging from the over-familiar Grieg and Halvorsen to the relatively obscure Braein and Brustad. and expertly lead by the conducted whose name usually appears at the very top of alphabetical listings ably supported by the Stavanger Symphony.
The two pieces by Saeverud offer alternative views to the performances included in the all Saeverud discs recently featured here on MIMIC in the chat-box. And military band enthusiasts will undoubtedly recognise Johannes Hanssen's March of the Valdre. Usual excellent recorded sound from BIS.
