Here is a fine set of recordings of the complete violin sonatas by two Dutch musicians. Hannes Minnaar has also made a reputation in recordings of the Beethoven piano concertos and the piano trios, with the van Baele Trio. Here he partners with the long established van Keulen rather than the van Baele's violinist, Maria Milstein, and they are provided by excellent recorded sound.

Several sets of recordings of the Beethoven sonatas with a female violinist and male pianist have appeared in recent years - including Isobelle Faust and Alexander Melnikov, Chloe Hanslip and Danny Driver and Alina Ibragimova and Cédric Tiberghien. Whilst van Keulen and Minnaar might not quite reach the heights of those three sets, they are not far behind. I would not prefer any of the other pianists to Minnaar but some may find van Keulen occasionally a little raw in tone.

Because of the large size of this set (4 GB), I have posted them in a folder and you can select how many to download at one time. Please note that the track numbers do not match with the booklet sequence which is based on the SACD/CD release. In the playlist here, the tracks have each sonata in sequence rather than No.10 preceding No.9.
